Attiko Metro Operation Company S.A. (ΑΜΕL S.A.) has been operating the ATHENS METRO Lines 2 and 3 as of January 2000, when they were commissioned.
Today, METRO Network consists of:
Line 2 (Aghios Antonios – Aghios Dimitrios•Alexandros Panagoulis) 10.9 km long with fourteen (14) stations.
Line 3 (Egaleo – Doukissis Plakentias) 16.4 km long with thirteen (13) Stations.
21.2 kilometers of the Suburban Railway Network constitute the continuation of Line 3, through which the Athens International Airport “ELEFTHERIOS VENIZELOS” and the area of Messogia are directly connected to the city center using the METRO trains, via four (4) Stations namely Airport, Koropi, Peania – Kantza and Pallini.
As of February 14th 2009, there is no METRO train service in section Ethniki Amyna - Airport due to works for the construction of the new Line 3 stations.
