The Athens Metro, one of the major and most complex projects ever executed in Greece, is now at the service of the citizens of Athens. The Metro network, consisting of two Lines, i.e. Line 2 (Agios Antonios – Agios Dimitrios • Alexandros Panagoulis) and Line 3 (Egaleo – Doukissis Plakentias), and twenty eight (28) technologically complete and ergonomic Stations is here to offer a modern and reliable mode of transportation in the city of Athens.
Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" and the area of Messogia are now served through four (4) Metro Stations and, thus, directly connected with the city center.
By enhancing the quality of every-day life of the citizens and Athens visitors, the Metro System offers high-quality services and constitutes a transportation mode, which is
- Rapid. The Metro reduces travel time in the city over 50% as compared to other transportation modes. It takes only 9 minutes to get from ETHNIKI AMYNA to SYNTAGMA, another 6 minutes to reach EGALEO and 11 minutes to go from SYNTAGMA to AGIOS ANTONIOS Station.
- Reliable. Trains run every 3 minutes during rush hours and every 5 to 10 minutes during non-rush hours. Plan your journeys in a better way and give your time a greater value by avoiding stress! Use the Metro!
- Comfortable. Thanks to escalators, lifts, areas of high aesthetics as well as the especially trained personnel of the stations, your circulation in the Metro stations is pleasant and easy.
- Environment friendly. The Metro reduces car transports, thus, contributing to the decongestion of traffic in the city center and the diminution of pollution, for a healthier environment and more humane living conditions.
